About Me - adampottsphotography

I picked up my first camera (a 1 megapixel Kodak) over 15 years ago, and have been passionate about photography ever since. I have called Northern California home for my entire life, and have lived in Chico (CSU Chico Alumni), the Sacramento area, and now reside in beautiful Petaluma. During my time in all of these places, I have explored the great surroundings  to both enjoy the outdoors and to find new photographic possibilities.

Some of my favorite places to visit and capture have been: Table Mountain Ecological Preserve, Bidwell Park, Helen Putnam Park, Whiskeytown National Recreation Area, various waterfalls in Northern California, Point Reyes National Seashore, Sonoma Coast Beaches, Mount Tamalpais, The Eastern Sierra, Lassen Volcanic National Park, and so many more amazing locations.

I am driven by both the technical and artistic challenge of fine art photography and strive to improve with each image I capture. Furthermore, the act of visualizing a scene and setting out to explore keeps me energized and passionate about photography.  I continue to actively practice my work, and add new inventory to my galleries/website nearly every month, with an endless list of new locations to explore in the years to come!

My photography documents and represents some of the most beautiful scenes in Northern California in some of the best possible light and atmospheric conditions. Each one of my final images starts with carefully planning the adventure, and I work very hard to find unique compositions while on location. In order to create landscape images that stand out, you really have to put yourself out in the elements and be in the right place at the right time. This often requires hiking in the dark, and scouting locations in advance so I can pre-visualize how I want my final image to look based on the composition and angle of light.

My work includes many iconic Northern California landscapes, but I also have a large collection of images from lesser-known locations and strive to bring my audience something new and unique. I believe in continuous growth as an artist, and am always striving to learn and apply new techniques that can help take my work to the next level and deliver even better final products for my clients. To date, I have produced many fine art prints on various media for clients and the reaction has been very favorable.
